HICKORY, Ky.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–J. Lee Powell, President and CEO of Old Hickory Clay Company and Gleason Clay Company LLC, has announced that both companies are implementing a general price increase for all of their ball clay and kaolin products, effective March 1, 2016. The increases will be 4% to 8% depending on the grade, and will be subject to contractual commitments already in place.
Mr. Powell states that this increase is necessary to offset higher costs of wages and benefits (particularly, employee health insurance), equipment maintenace and replacement, regulatory compliance, and investment in new technologies to improve operating efficiency and productivity.
Old Hickory Clay Company is a privately owned producer of ball clay and kaolin founded in 1918, with operations in Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia. Gleason Clay Company LLC is a privately owned producer of ball clay founded in 2014, and based in Gleason, TN.
